Belinda Street in her studio
About the artist

Belinda Street is a professional Australian Artist, currently living and working in Newcastle, Australia.

Street is the 2019 winner of the Paddington Art Prize, twice winner of the Mosman Youth Art Prize, and has been a finalist in the Gosford Art Prize, Calleen Art Prize, Muswellbrook Art Prize, Adelaide Perry Drawing Prize, Fleurieu Food & Wine Art Prize and the Warringah Art Prize. The artist was awarded a full scholarship to the Julian Ashton Art School, and has attained a degree in Visual Arts at The University of Newcastle, with Honours at The College of Fine Arts (UNSW). Her work is held in public and private collections nationally and internationally.

Street’s work explores the possibilities of landscape by combining perception, emotion and memory. Known for her abstract landscapes, the artist purposefully abstracts the landscape as it allows the artist to expressively blend both the visual characteristics of place with personal feelings and experience. ‘Connection’ is a major concern in Street’s work – particularly connection to the landscape and it’s history, and how this informs her perception and ultimately her representation of place.
